Additional Information

Current Research Projects

My research is conducted in the Speech Perception Assessment Laboratory (SPAL), whose focus is the accurate assessment of speech perception by individuals who have normal hearing and those who have hearing impairment. Over the years, my research has focused on the various tools and procedures used to assess speech perception including both subjective and objective outcome measures. In recent years, my work has concentrated on speech perception assessment with two specific populations of individuals: (1) bilingual listeners and (2) individuals who use cochlear implants. Studying these populations’ speech perception needs and assessment challenges has allowed me to develop ways to improve and quantify the most important challenges listeners with hearing loss face – that of enhanced speech perception performance.

  • ·       Speech perception in noise for bilingual Arabic speakers
  • ·       Noise levels in the operating room
  • ·       Speech Perception Assessment with Transducers
  • ·       Speech Perception and Listening Effort using Facemasks
